Vanilla Whole Cake Recipe

To make a vanilla whole cake, follow our directions:

Ingredients 

  • Sugar, granulated
  • Unsalted butter, 1 cup
  • Vanilla extract, 2 tablespoons
  • 4 eggs
  • All-purpose flour, 2 3/4 cups
  • 1 teaspoon of baking soda
  • 1/2 kosher salt
  • Whole buttermilk in a cup

For frosting

  • 2 cups softened unsalted butter
  • 4 cups of sugar, granulated
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 2/4 cup heavy cream
  • Vanilla extract
  • Sprinkles

Directions

Step #1

Set the oven to 350°F. An 8-inch circular cake pan should be greased and floured.

Step #2

When thickened and light gold in color, mix the eggs, sugar, vanilla, and almond extract for 2 minutes at medium-high speed or for 5 minutes by hand.

For uniformity, add the measured flour a bit at a time.

In a saucepan, combine the hot milk, butter, and oil. Use a mixer to whisk the mixture at low speed until it is thoroughly blended.

Before adding milk, divide the mixture into two separate baking tins.

The milk should be added to the butter mixture before baking for 25 to 30 minutes. After 15 minutes of cooling in the pan, flip the cake and allow it to cool fully for approximately an hour.

To make the frost, beat butter in a stand mixer with the paddle attachment on medium speed for about 5 minutes, or until it is light and fluffy. Add powdered sugar gradually while beating for about two minutes until smooth. Salt and vanilla are beaten in. Add cream gradually while beating for about 30 seconds, or until bubbly and spreadable.

Frost the cake, both on top and between the layers. If you want smooth sides, use a bench scraper. Candy sprinkles should be added to the cake’s foundation and top border.

  • 1 teaspoon of baking soda
  • 1/2 kosher salt 
  • 1 cup of Buttermilk

For frosting

  • 2 cups softened unsalted butter
  • 4 cups of sugar: granulated
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • Cocoa powder
  • Instant coffee
  • Melted chocolate
  • Buttermilk
  • Vanilla extract

Directions

Step #1

Set the oven to 350°F. An 8-inch circular cake pan should be greased and floured.

Step #2

Mix the eggs, milk, sugar, and vanilla extract for 2 minutes at medium-high speed or for 5 minutes by hand until thickened and light gold in color.

For uniformity, add the measured flour a bit at a time.

Salt, instant coffee powder, and cocoa powder are all to be added to boiling water. In the meantime include sugar and eggs in the mixture. Using an electric hand whisk, blend the ingredients until they are creamy and smooth.

Before adding the chocolate mixture, divide the mixture into two separate baking tins.

Bake for 30 minutes, or until risen and a skewer is inserted and removed cleanly. Take out of the tins and allow to totally cool on a wire rack.

To prepare the icing, put the flour, baking soda, and baking powder in the mixer. Next, add the vegetable oil, cocoa powder, melted chocolate, butter, and vanilla extract and beat on low speed until just incorporated.

Take out the baked cake from the oven and spread the icing on top of it, evenly.

Decorate however you like and serve.
